The Fukushima meltdown could have been prevented by building a copy of the IFR EBR-2 prototype that, as designed, DID NOT MELT DOWN when deliberately exposed to exactly the conditions that the _tsunami_ inflicted upon the _diesel backup_ generators, after the reactors had survived the earthquake. Even that prototype produced enough power to have saved the halted reactors.
Japan really needs to do something to prevent earthquakes.
