How to just lose weight

You probably have seen titles like “losing weight fast”, “lose 10 pounds in a week”, … and some other rather “magical” recipes on losing weight. They all sound fancy and cool and I can bet people writing those posts aren’t following the same recipes.

The truth is none of those tricks and recipes will work if the person is not willing to work hard, get hands-on and get dirty.

Below is my tips on losing weight:

  1. Will power

The number 1 ingredient is will power. You will have to be persistent and willing to give it all. French would call it “le rendez-vous du donné et du recevoir”. How much are you willing to give. The good news is that your gift is there waiting, whether it is being fit, looking good or be more confidence.

Go claim what it yours and you can do it.

2. Patience

Number 2 ingredient is patience. Yes patience. Nothing will happen overnight believe me and not in one or two weeks as many would prescribe. It is a process and a journey. You just need to keep reminding yourself why you are doing this (being fit and probably looking good) and we all know the benefits of being fit in regard to energy level, health, stress and life style. I will explore the benefits in another post very soon.

One last thing to mention is your weight scale. That device isn’t giving you the big picture. You are probably building muscles and muscles weigh more. You need to probably start learning to pay attention on what my body is telling you.

Well, you can argue that digital weight scale might help but yet they are not quite accurate.

3. Eat well

You will notice that I have put foods and workout on the bottom of the list.

As long as you have the will to change and you have a clear purpose and reasons why you want to lose weight. Sticking to a certain diet will be fun because you have clarity in you mind and heart on where you want to be.

Eat a balanced diet and workout. Don’t drink your calories but instead eat them. A glass of orange juice is probably equivalent to six oranges. How often can you eat six oranges at a go but guess what, you can easily drink 4 or more glasses a day(~24 oranges). Think about it.

Eat carbs, you need them for energy if you are working out. If you love bread and take two slices in the morning, start by eating one slice and progressively, you will end up dropping that bread all together. Don’t stop eating carbs but instead reduce the quantity.

Eat a lot of vegetables, lean proteins (beans, eggs, fish and chicken), fruits(berries have less sugar).

Eat avocados, they are a good source of healthy fat and avoid dairy products.

4. Workout

Very important to workout. Focus more on building muscles than cardio. With muscles, you will burn more calories. You don’t need that gym membership to run on a treadmill for 30 minutes. I am not against the gym but I would encourage you to get a person trainer other than figuring out what to do by yourself.

Start doing bodyweight workout using your own body weight(no need for equipments). Workouts like burpees, squats, push ups, jumping jacks will help a lot.
