The third full-length album from the Oakland born electro pop star brings his fans more of the same. Clanging, clicking, and shimmering electronic music. While his previous album, ‘Farewell, starlight!’ exposed the sophisticated and collaborative mind of Francis his third record comes off as a personalized experience pieced together from Polaroids of his ex-lover. Francis turns to 808synths and a saturated reverb on tracks like ‘tear it up’ and ‘scream so loud’- an almost stripped down blend of daft punk and Kanye’s 808s and heartbreaks. On other tracks, the Oakland native turns to quieter, piano-backed ballads professing his love, affection… and remorsefulness. The extremely personal record might not be his most popular but it might be the artists most powerful.
