This is an absolutely horrible idea, and I’m frankly insulted that the pure greed from your part (let’s face it, we all know you’re not doing this to “make OkCupid better for everyone” but to get more people to pay for A-list) is being pandered as a decision you’ve made to benefit the users. It’s not, and I don’t appreciate being patronised. If you want to force everyone to pay for using OKC then just say so.
The visitors function was an incredibly useful function as has been noted in nearly all the previous comments, and from a personal experience I can say that each guy I’ve actually ended up meeting through OKC was introduced to me via this function. Not one of them has ever come up when searching for matches; the visitors functions has enabled me to connect with people I most likely would never have met otherwise.
I don’t understand why you think it’s a good idea to keep removing useful functions that actually allow you to search for the people you might be most compatible with, while simultaneously adding functions that turn the site into Tinder Light. If I wanted to use Tinder I would, the only reason I’ve stuck with OKC for so long is that it was more focused on actually looking at personality, not pictures. The horrid app that pushes the Tinder agenda already pissed me off (not only did it make Likes completely obsolete as guys no longer read the profile before pressing like, but it’s also resulting in more empty profiles being created as people think pictures are enough like on Tinder), the photo comments are awful (again, I’m not looking for slimy comments on my looks) and now you’ve taken away another feature which I actually liked and relied on heavily when using the site?
I’ve been on this site for ages and was just recently thinking of upgrading to A-list, but that’s most definitely not happening now. In fact I’m starting to think it’s time to move onto another site altogether since the OKC staff is completely unwilling to listen to its users.
