8 Random NBA 2nd Round Playoff Thoughts
IT Hits 50
Isaiah Thomas produced one of the greatest playoff performances in history when he dropped 53 points in Game two’s overtime win against the Wizards. He scored 29 of those in the 4th quarter and 9 points in OT, with broken tooth and all. This game puts him in Celtic folk law forever. Dealing with a huge personal tragedy, IT had the best game of his career; and Boston needed him to do so. Way to go dude!
Raptors Face An Off-Season of Uncertainty
Toronto’s season ended in a disappointing sweep against the defending Champion Cavs. I really thought that the Raptors had a team that could have given Cleveland some real problems in this series. I was wrong. With Kyle Lowry stating that he will be a free agent this summer and the GM stating that they need a culture change, it could be a very different roster come October.
All Hail The King
This man is ridiculous. A lot has been said about how LeBron is playing too many minutes this season but he is smart enough to take processions off while on the floor. I mean look at his playoff numbers for this year; 34/9/7 while shooting 55% from the field. For a guy that in his 14th season, this is near on impossible. Sometimes you can take this for granted because James has been producing numbers like this for most of his career, doesn’t make it any less impressive.
NBA Awards 2017
Who thought this was a good idea? I know that the NFL do an awards show before the Superbowl but I am not interested in an awards show for 26th June. This is after the NBA Finals have finished. Are even the players going to turn up for this? Most will be on vacation I think. Who gives a frig about who is the best dressed player in the league is? Plus Drake has confirmed as being the host for this, I’m out.
John Wall, Balling Out
Wall is playing the best ball of his career. In the game where IT scored 53 points, Wall had 40 points and 13 assists. In this season’s playoffs he is averaging 28 points and 11 assists a game. He did lay an egg in Game 5 against Boston with a poor shooting performance but he will not have a game like that in Game 6 in Washington. If the Wizards are to progress to their first Conference Finals in years, their fate lies with Wall and his play.
Did the Rockets Quit?
There was a big Game 6 last night in Houston, the Rockets lay down and let the Spurs whoop them by 39 points to advance to the West Finals to play the Warriors. Without Tony Parker and MVP-candidate Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio used their terrific ball movement to stun the home crowd. Now if this was the only playoff game you had seen of James Harden, you would be wondering what all the fuss was about. Harden shot only 11 times in the game, making just 2. Weather it was fatigue or he was injured, that was not the James Harden we have seen all season. The coming days we may learn more.
Too Many Blowouts
The NBA Playoffs are supposed to be a showcase of the best teams and the best players showing their talents and creating legacies. However, this year has kind of a disappointment so far. 20 out of 63 playoff games this year have ended in the victors winning by 15+. Last year was a very similar look. That is not helped by the Cavs and Warriors being the first 2 teams starting the playoffs 8–0. Please let the Conference Finals be more competitive than the first 2 rounds, yours sincerely, all NBA fans.
West Finals Prediction
