Note: This is an article that will be continually updated and shared. It’s my way to show progress on this exciting project.I suspect many things will change throughout this project, which is why I’ll be continuously updating it throughout the year.

A few weeks ago, I wrote this post. I wrote it to tell the world (and myself) what my goals are and what exactly I’m going to do to achieve those goals. Give it a read if you’re interested.
In that post, I said that one of my goals is to put out a track in 2017 and eventually an EP later on. Well, I’ve officially started this long process. I’ve been talking with a few friends to turn this dream into a reality.
I want to give you more data on this project, without giving away too much. So, here’s what I have so far.
Forlorn in a Metropolis. That’s the name that I’ve been thinking with. I’m pretty set on this name, but I’m sure Kanye was set on Swish before it eventually became Life of Pablo.
There is a very specific meaning behind this name. I don’t want to share what that is, because I’m hoping the songs themselves and the EP will be able to communicate that directly.

The concept behind this EP came about in a few different ways and it all just kind of clicked at the same time. I was talking with my friends who’s a jack-all-trades kind of artist. He’s a rapper, celloist, pianist, painter, entrepreneur, actor, etc… I was talking with him and I realized that I don’t just have to stick to one kind of medium. Art is a communication, and I can use any of those mediums to communicate.
The idea for music came about when I went to see Chance The Rapper live in San Francisco. Chance is one of my favorite artists ever. He’s one of those artists that just excites the audience. The way he bounces around the stage is amazing. He’s a great performer.
That’s the moment I had the idea to put out an EP. I realized right then and there that I wanted to make something in the world of music.
I’ve been writing every night, trying to formulate all my thoughts and ideas into what I want this first song to be. I still don’t entirely know, but it’s coming together.

The track list is set in stone for the most part. It’s now an 8 track LP, with a few surprises. I’ve been experimenting with different flows, rhythm and beats to see what works best. Iv’e never done anything like this before, so believe me when I say I’m really starting from the bottom.
On top of writing a lot, I’ve been reaching out and listening to other rappers. I’ve been finding indie rappers on Soundcloud with less than a thousand followers that are just amazing.
I’ve been listening to a lot of Rob Curly, Russ, J. Cole, Big Sean and Eminem. It’s interesting, because all of those rappers are different and are great at different things. Eminem is a genius lyricist, while Russ has great beats and has a great flow in all of his songs.
I have a very talented friend who’s making a beat for me, and I already have a setup for me to record. I’m finalizing the writing for a song, and as soon as that’s done, I’ll be in the “studio”.
All I can say is, I’m very excited for what’s to come.
