I’m so sorry for your loss.
Many of us are I’ll equipped to respond in these situations and can unknowingly do lasting damage. We could do with something in the school curriculum that prepares us for these circumstances.

Even after having felt a loss, to say “I know exactly how it feels” is a bit selfish. To intrude with a comparison, almost devaluing the loss and disallowing the grieving process to be just that. I know its meant to be empathetic but it just fails in every way.
