Veterans can continue to make a meaningful impact after leaving the service by joining well-established companies. Many vets find their transition difficult as they navigate their new civilian life and struggle to find their “mission.” Fortunately, many world-famous brands recognize the value that veterans bring to their workforce. Skills such as teamwork, communication, operating in stressful environments, and much more are easily translatable into the civilian business world. Here’s a quick list of well-known companies that make active efforts to hire veterans.

Amazon

The multinational tech company that deals with everything from e-commerce, Cloud Computing to video streaming is a fantastic company for vets. Amazon frequently offers virtual hiring events, apprenticeships, and training programs. Check out their military page here.

Disney

While Disney isn’t exactly a “tech” company, I thought it was a notable mention to include them. This famous mass media company has been touching the hearts of millions for decades with its exciting content and theme parks. The company has an initiative called “Heroes Work Here,” which aims to help hire, train, and support veterans.

Oracle

The massive IT corporation recognizes veterans as essential to its Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.

Meta

The massive tech company that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp has a section for veterans here.

Microsoft

This tech giant offers 17 weeks of cloud training with a program called Microsoft Software and Systems Academy (MSSA).

Google

The iconic tech company believes “veterans and their families make great Googlers.” Check out opportunities on their Google Veterans Network.

LinkedIn

The professional social networking platform allows military members free access to LinkedIn premium for one year. LinkedIn premium offers excellent tutorials to help beef up you’re resume. Check out the signup page here.

Salesforce

Salesforce offers free certification training for a successful tech career.

Just because you hung up your uniform doesn’t mean your mission is over. Plenty of companies are making a meaningful impact and can benefit from the experience you bring to the table. Hopefully, this small list helps those transitioning into their next phase. I’ll be adding to this list as I come across them, and feel free to let me know if I should add other excellent resources.
