The Gulfs

the gulf between two bodies

lapping water under bridges

stars and submerged lives

merciful storms during endless fires

it could be the form of a boat

tossed yet still floating

we averting with dark eyes

we ever lovely in the slow dying

lithe boys that swim to the end of piers

before seeping into the cities

the space between having

yet separating

like a mother

and her unborn child

the gulf between two bodies

lapping water under bridges
