Strength: Three Point Shooting/Team Player/Finishing/Positional Passing/Defender

Da Silva is a great catch & shoot player from three-point land. He has trouble with on the move shooting, but this is not how he should be used. Whoever gets Da Silva is the ultimate team player. He will impact the game how it is needed, and he won’t force his way to impact the game. He is a “Take what the game gives you” type of player. Da Silva is a solid finisher as he is smart enough to read the defenders and makes them dictate where and how he is going to get open. He can finish through contact and on the move as well as positioning himself to get the extra pass near the rim. Tristan is one of the best positional passers in college basketball. He is a player that if he gets the ball in the middle, he will carve out the defense easily by finding cutters or creating space for himself. Da Silva is a solid defender, but his athleticism and lack of explosiveness tends to make him miss a lot of players that drive by him. He uses this to the advantage of being able to get through screens and using his body physically to defend successfully.

Weakness: Athleticism/PnR Player/Rebounding/Slow

Da Silva lacks athleticism. He doesn’t move quickly or have an amazing first step to blown by defenders. He normally uses his IQ to get around, but he is successful at it. His athleticism is mostly missed when he gets to the paint and needs to finish against a center or a bigger player than him because he doesn’t elevate too much from the floor. Da Silva must become a better PnR player, and he is good at pick & pop but when it is time to roll, he tends to get dominated at the rim because of his lack of athleticism and strength below. For a 6’9 forward, Tristan lacks great rebounding ability, he is good, but he has the frame and feel for the game to become a more solid rebounder. This is also because he spends a lot of time doing other things rather than concentrating on rebounds. He is a bit slow for a wing and this may prove to be a problem with wings being so fast & athletic in today’s NBA.

Opinion:

Da Silva is the ultimate team player and a straight professional. He plays a lot like European basketball, has a very high IQ, likes ball movement, and can carve up defenses with his mind and knowledge of basketball. Da Silva is a glue guy, keeps the team together and doesn’t care about the stat line, he cares about winning and keeping his team afloat. If he can get to the middle of the defense he can take over and get your team a bucket. This is a must draft player who will be an excellent role player.
