* “passing” is the construct that a trans person needs to look like their cisgender counterpart of their gender. Example: a transman needing to “look” like a “true” man 100% of the time. This is rooted in stereotypical constructs of gender and while it can be harmful, it’s necessary for some trans people in order to maintain some semblance of safety in their day-t0-day lives.
I exist outside of the binary. I don’t belong to one or the other, my identity doesn’t allow it. I am constantly questioning the world around me and how the world interacts with my gender just as my gender interacts with the world. It is a confusing concept but it’s helped me develop this sense of identity that I would have never found within a binary. I’m not a boy, but I’m not a girl either. I am simply a person.
