Don’t upgrade to Android 14 if you’re a Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, or 12T user, and use Android Auto Wireless

Xiaomi started rolling out Android 14 in October (2023) for selected devices like Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and Xiaomi 12T.

But! And that’s a big but, if you are an Android Auto Wireless user, I don’t recommend upgrading to it just yet.

I have an EU (Global?) Xiaomi 13 Pro device, just recently upgraded to Android 14 with the official version being MIUI 14.0.5.0 UMBEUXM.

Works all fine, just don’t use it with Android Auto as it has an ugly bug: the moment your device connects with Android Auto, the screen lock timeout stops working. In other words: the screen doesn’t turn off on its own.

And even when you disconnect the device from Android Auto, the issue remains, no screen lock timeout, the screen doesn't turn off.

The only solution so far: reboot the device. Extremely annoying. And no fun for the battery!

A bit over a week ago I posted about this in this Reddit thread and received numerous feedback from other users with the same problem (using 13 Pro or 13 device).

I’ve also posted in the Xiaomi Forums, thread here, where some users confirmed the same issue.

I did leave feedback also to Xiaomi, hoping they fix this soon, but until then, I don’t recommend updating, if you haven’t already!
