#1. My app growth project starts here.

Actually, my name IS NOT Alex Garcia and I believe it’s fair to start this article explaining why I’m using an alias. It’s all about to do not pollute the big goal of this project.
I’m a 32 years old CEO of an IT startup founded in South America in 2013. My company provides a great technology for the B2B education market and we are really disrupting our sector for making our product so simple that not only IT guys can use it as happens with all of our competitors. Put it simply, in our B2B initiative, we took something really complex and we made it ease-to-use keeping the same or more features and power than our competitors.
This year I moved my startup to the United States and I’m currently based in Silicon Valley with a second office in Florida.
Our B2B product is growing tremendously fast in the USA and in more 35 countries and after spending the last 9 months working full time on it, I’ve passed the baton of the B2B product to my team.
Considering as I said above that one of our main differentiators on the B2B product is simplify something complex and make it really intuitive, since last year my development team is working on a B2C version of the same product based on our vision of a big and unexplored potential market for a solution like ours for end users.
With that, we’re trying not only to disrupt the B2B market but also to create a new one (B2C).
Thus in June 2016 we quietly launched the first versions of our B2C apps on App Store and Google Play and the product serves smartphones and tablets users.
Since the launch, we did practically zero marketing efforts to promote the app and our goal was just to get some initial data, understand the environment and fix some potential bugs or unfriendly flows.
During the same time, we started to make some research about the best strategies to scale our brand-new B2C app and we found thousands of articles and content but almost all of them had a similar characteristic: they are articles for content marketing prepared by providers of services and software who want to make us subscribe their services / products.
I’m passionate about the concept of inbound marketing and at my company, we are using more and more content to get new users for our B2B solution and it definitely works.
The dark side of it is that the internet is now inundated with articles written to make us subscribe products and it’s rare to find content created just to share experience and best practices.
This situation encouraged me to start this project.
For the next 10 months, I’ll personally work to understand all the related factors, design and test a strategy to scale all of our metrics, including downloads, engagement, and revenue of my B2C app.
I’ve created an alias and I will not share any information about the name of my app or company. The goal of the articles that I will write as Alex Garcia is not to promote my app but document and share this journey that I believe will be exciting. In other words, this project is not a content to promote my app.
During the next months probably I will publish here hundreds of articles, sharing my experiences and some of them will mention the tools that I will use. All my feedbacks about each tool will be exclusively and truly originated from my real experiences. I’ll not include any tool just for promoting reasons.
By the end of this project probably I will have my whole journey documented and I’ll be able to share this knowledge with my team and eventually help other companies that are facing the same challenge.
Through the next article, I’ll provide a full overview of my app and set the metrics that I have today. So we can use that as a starting point.
If for some reason someone believes that this can be interesting, just follow me to be notified of my next articles. Also, I’m trying to build and share this knowledge and I’m sure I’m not alone on that so I would love to invite everyone to use the comments to join this project. Any recommendations will be always welcomed!
