What did you do this past week?
I started on the final graphics project for Honors graphics and its to implement radiosity for light diffuse simulation. I’m also planning the UTCS Turing Final party for my senior year, so that is going to be a lot of fun! (if you are reading this and want to come PM me) I also met with my group and coordinated our presentation for the final project for this class and finished up a couple of loose ends.
What’s in your way?
I recently got injured climbing in my right knee and hand during a bad fall. Coding has been rather difficult with my injured hand, but somehow we manage. I also got COVID for the 2nd time after being vaccinated 3 times, so it wasn’t a great week overall.
What will you do next week?
I will finish up the presentation with my team and celebrate almost graduating!
What did you think of Paper #14: The New Methodology?
It made sense. This seems to be the industry standard when it comes to the development process. I see the history and how it evolved, so that was pretty cool. Otherwise, I see many management software utilize this method, especially ZenDesk and Gitlab where people can estimate the points and difficulty of each problem.
What was your experience of refactoring.? (this question will vary, week to week)
I had a lot when doing my first startup. Since I was pretty new to making something from scratch, I would be the type of person to rewrite my entire codebase every 2 months or so. So, I’d say I have a bit of experience when it comes to design patterns.
What made you happy this week?
I finally recovered from COVID! I’m also finally able to practice shuffle dance again after my knee injury. However, I still can’t squat… I’m also excited because my co-founder and I are finally on the same page about our design decisions and we are going to do one last check with our VC before we take off!
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
Talk to people even if it makes you uncomfortable. I’ve gotten some of the best advice and help just from reaching out to strangers.
