Thanks for putting these thoughts together. If I recall correctly, we both attended a controversial school board meeting to satisfy a requirement for the Citizenship in the Community badge. One public school was going to lose its free after-school enrichment program to another school. Parents from both schools showed up in numbers, sporting t-shirts with their schools’ mascots. They all had a chance to voice their concerns. It was real citizen involvement, and it was the first time I had seen something like that. A very good lesson.
