These are all really excellent add-on tips. Especially the last one about pair-reviewing with the author. Doing that has the huge benefit of cutting down a ton of the back-and-forth in my experience. Regarding time-to-review, I think that definitely comes down to team velocity and could change between teams or even between projects.

Definitely a fine line to tread, Amy. I agree with you about the gut feeling. Personally I’ve gotten into the habit of providing a prefix to review comments that are stylistic in nature with something like [nit] or [suggestion] to open a conversation instead of it unintentionally coming across as a demand. This has especially helped when new team members join.
