Digital Resurrection: We can use AI to talk to the dead?!

Wait, we can actually talk to the dead?

No, this isn’t the next sci-fi horror movie. AI like this is real and people use it right now.

How can AI “talk like the dead”?

Some AI chatbots allow users to “talk to the dead” by storing the deceased messages, pictures, recordings, and more to create an avatar of a dead loved one. You can “talk” to the avatar through text, audio, or a simulated video chat.

Why people aren’t enthusiastic about this idea

Yeah, the thought of using ChatGPT to analyze your passed-away relative’s info to talk just like them is creepy.

The problems with this AI

Some experts in the psychology of grief believe that this sort of technology is harmful to the user’s psychic health. Experts worry about the risk of people in vulnerable conditions relying on imperfect AI chatbots. Users can experience bad things such as lying, making things up, and even giving dangerous advice.

Conclusion: Should you use these AI chatbots?

Should you use these AI chatbots? If you want to do it (not to use it to “talk” to a dead person), then sure, go do it, but if you’re on the fence or you miss your deceased loved one, I would steer away from this. Or maybe talking to an AI avatar instead of “talking it out” is the better solution.

So, in conclusion, AI chatbots that allow you to “talk to the dead” are interesting if you think about it, but I definitely won’t use them anytime soon.
