In my experience, such people are operating from a place of conscious spirituality, less than religion. Some are members of an organized religion; some are not. But I think the common thread is an acceptance of their limitations regarding control, which is to say that they understand their control lies in the way they behave and the way they react to the behavior of others, whereas others ( the fanatically fearful, if you will) are constantly trying to feel okay by forcing others to behave as though they believe they should. Its about the assertion of willpower. In my opinion. Part of it, at least. I know it’s more complicated than that.
