Don’t assume.

Oh. Ha. I was TOTALLY talking about the US. Because that was what Sirious referenced, or so it seemed to me.

Like “American women are not under attack because they…” referenced.

So that was what I addressed. He didn’t seem to be disputing global misogyny. Good thing, too. That’s a tough one to dispute.

However, I take exception to him saying what happens to women here is nothing; try going through what women in (can’t remember what locale) have to deal with.

The answer is not to dismiss rape culture unless it reaches a certain minimum threshold. The answer is a global shift in the way girls and women are treated. “boyfriend” assaults and date rapes maybe aren’t prepubescent girls being arranged to marry old men, or sex trafficking, but they still have to stop.

And any man who says maltreatment of our mothers and daughters and sisters is inconsequential because IT IS SO MUCH WORSE SOMEWHERE ELSE…well, peek behind his words. What does that boil down to?

He’s a rape sympathizer. He condones roughing women up to a certain degree.

And expects those falling beneath that parameter to keep their stupid, whiny mouths shut.
