This is in life also — there is always someone walking around trying to change someone’s interpretation. This should be reserved only for close friends who want to stop someone from making a mistake in their life — because they care. If you don’t care, don’t bother trying to save them — let them go and make that mistake until they learn it of their own volition — or their own friends can shoulder tap them and put them straight. It is for them and reserved for close friends and bonds.

Oh. My. Gosh.
I have never before known how to express THIS.
Thank you for giving me parameters to use and a way to explain what it means to exert influence, and when it is or is not appropriate to do so to my kids, one of whom is convinced that the world will surely end the second she stops policing people’s actions and chiming in on their choices ( and for a ready response when she wants to know how it makes sense for me to tell her not to do something by doing the very thing I’m telling her not to do lol).
I’ve never seen Lost in Translation, so I wouldn’t have an opinion on your interpretation anyway, but wow.
