That was a huge game changer for me, too. I know my father is so, so sick. And after 42 years married to him, even though my mom is amazing and I adore her, she is really sick as well. And I can’t do a damned thing about that. But I can get healthy and set boundaries and teach my kids a different way. And I can still love my parents ( in whatever capacity), without getting entangled in their dysfunction. Sorry I’m rambling. This really triggered me tonight. Touched a nerve.
