you should feel however you feel, first of all. secondly, how you ARE feeling makes perfect sense. only a disordered person would feel good about having been forced to take such a step. you may have had no other choice at this time, but that doesn’t change the fact that you are having to choose to remove the person who should love you most from your life. ain’t anything about that that isn’t totally heartbreaking.

I have a daughter, and as a fellow daughter of a disordered parent AND as a mother, I am so very sorry you find yourself here today.

my dad died last year, but before that I also was faced with this decision. eventually my dad made some (clumsy, but hey, it was progress) amends and reentered mine and my children’s lives and I am grateful for that.

you never know what tomorrow holds. just do today.
