CS371p Fall 2019: Alexander Houy
What did you do this past week?
This past week I made more progress on Darwin. I didn’t particularly have the most relaxing week because there was a lot of preparation to do for other classes. However, I feel confident that I got on top of things despite feeling like I was struggling to keep a balance. I also registered for my classes. Registration went well other than being annoyed by the 3rd CS class limit. I also found it unfortunate that I had to pick between some CS electives that I was looking forward in taking due to scheduling conflicts.
What’s in your way?
What’s currently in my way is the Darwin project. It’s not where I’d like it to be fore this week but I believe I’ll be able to finish the rest of it in time. Having two exams the same week feels like a big roadblock when it comes to completing the Darwin project.
What will you do next week?
The next week I plan on doing a lot of studying for my exams. It’s unfortunate that both exams are soon after each other so I won’t really have time to rest. I plan on studying for my exams first and then after my last exam gets completed, I’ll completely shift gears to work on Darwin. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to design all the objects.
What was your experience of the vector implementation?
I learned a lot during vector implementation. I continue to be amazed by how well thought out the C++ code base is. It still takes me a while to think of when we call the copy constructor and the assignment constructor like during the quiz we took on Friday.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
This one can probably count as two tip-of-the-weeks. The first part is getting enough sleep because getting enough sleep allows you to get to the dreaming part of your sleep cycle. My friend told me that dreaming always helped her figure out her problems. So I decided to give it a try and interpret my dreams. Dreaming has helped me analyze what I longed for in my dreams and adjust my lifestyle around that. If you’re stuck on something or feel conflicted about something, go to sleep and try to dream about it. You might find your answer within your dreams.
