A study on Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
God is a God of Hope. He provides JOY + PEACE.
JOY is an external posture. PEACE is an internal posture.
JOY
- An expression of an inward confidence
- Spurs us to testify + live out this internal motion
- Noticed by others externally in any circumstances
PEACE
- An inner confidence in God
- Noticed when composure and confidence is found during difficult circumstances
- Roots us in relationship with God
JOY is to be shared with our horizontal relationships (our earthly bonds). PEACE is found in our rootedness in our vertical relationship (our God).
