Methodological note: There are two types of online polls. One type, which 538 has taken to call “clickers”, are posted by news sites after debates. They suffer from incurable selection bias and have no predictive power. The other type (which GCS polls are) select a representative sample from the pool of internet users. They have minor selection bias, but enough of the population uses the internet that the results have predictive power.
