This is the first in a series of reflective posts about my experience as a UDX Masters student in the Online program through Kent State University.

As I complete my first week of classes, the thing that sticks out most was the content from Tony Fadell’s Ted talk about noticing. How as a designer our role is more than just improving the easily found problems that we face day-to-day, but finding the small issues that no one else notices. I realized how I had fallen into a closed mindset and this was an awakening of my mind to begin seeing the world as it is once more.

I am excited for the semester and for how this reflecting journaling will help me grow as a designer. Words have never been my thing. I’ve tried my best to be as succinct as possible whenever possible and this process of not only reflection but of writing down my thoughts will be a great way for me to grow in this aspect of being a designer.
