Ignorance is not bliss

Do you remember that time when you found out about something you’d rather not have? You just thought you didn’t need to know that information. And you probably thought how true the saying “ignorance is bliss” is right?

Well, let me tell you…you are wrong. Mainly because ignorance can lead to wrong decisions that can cost you a lot. For instance, if you are hiring someone, you don’t want to be ignorant of key facts that lead to hiring the wrong person. Or if you are playing poker you just need to remember the famous quote: “If you’re playing a poker game and you look around the table and can’t tell who the sucker is, it’s you”.

Good old ignorance…it comes in two flavors you know: primary ignorance (when we don’t know we are ignorant) and recognized ignorance (when we recognize our ignorance). More on ignorance here.

In the business world ignorance is still widespread. Decisions are made with no data or limited data to support it (primary ignorance). One can argue that it is impossible to have all the data you need to avoid being ignorant. But at least you should get as much as you can and recognize that there is some information that you don’t know and can´t get. Honestly, all these points just seem like good common sense…

…So, why are still so many app publishers that administer and make decisions still managing their apps without a full analytics platform to support them? Ignorance is not bliss — try Liquid and see
