Meet Godzilla. My New Steps to Progress in Surfing.
“Each person whom we face on our life path could turn to our teacher”, voices the wisdom. Having once heard these words, I could cardinally change my reality. Respectively to myself I divined that reading books and gaining theoretical data shouldn’t be enough to be steady developed. Moving further is solely facilitated by personal contact what includes acquisition of knowledge from experts!
November, 2015 I managed to get acquainted with one interesting person of the surfing world. Having completed my acceleration program in Lisbon, I went to Praia da Luz, a small town in the Portuguese region Algarve to have a break off heavy working month and return to my surfboard. The thing is that this district lures by a cozy hotel fitted for surfers where I usually stay. This is a lovely place wherefrom you can reach the most famous surf spots in the areas of Algarve and Aljezur. As I can surfboard only a few times in a year, I seize any moment to enhance my level and take 1–2 lessons from the local instructors. This time, the owner of a hotel, my friend Marko, recommended me to request for the study a master of a local school known as Godzilla. The next morning I was boarded by a minibus. A jolly strong blade managed the sure driving. Somehow we coped at once to the loose communication. The way over I honestly told about my Internet project which must provide the travelers worldwide on successful releasing a proper experts in the desired sports. He seemed was highlighted. Then we got to Arrifana, one of the most marvelous surfing spot of this area. Regarding the weather forecast upright waves were expected in the second half of a day only, so we had an opportunity to drink coffee and chat. Godzilla has been doing surfboard since his childhood. Surfing occupies the most part of his life, both for earnings and hobby. Again I figured out, people affected by sliding the oceanic waves, exude giant stream of positive breath, what inevitable strengthen you by adding some hidden mastership of the nature.
Finally we obtained the good swell and our study began. Firstly I was given full freedom to make Godzilla observed my existing abilities. Some later, he summarized the list of main blunders which should be rooted out to move further. Appeared, he told about trifles. I was really surprised that all my next progress was based on those small tips. All the time, what left for my study, Godzilla strictly pointed at the same failures, which constantly occurred while practicing.”Mistakes are sheltered in our mind”, repeated my teacher. Swear, doing my best I felt that was running even worse and got some disappointed. At the end of the lesson, which lasted over 4 hours, my instructor determined the time to trial new abilities and left me alone going toward the shore to pack in. I attempted to follow his guidelines, though the lapses floated up. Suddenly near the end of my training I caught a big wave far unexpectedly for myself and could sweep on its wall. Salted water on the lips turned to the taste of my victory. Next wave ridges swooped me gently and allowed sliding with high confidence, then again. When my exhausted feet stepped on the hot windy sand, Godzilla awaited me. He kept me watching all this time. “Chill out, you did it!” The teacher encouraged me proudly. My efforts didn’t pass in vain. Over again I succeeded to score up in my mind. I stood ready to push boundaries of my mental world even higher.
