Procrastination: The Dream Killer
I talked about how to become more productive in other blog posts but I never talked about it’s biggest enemy. Procrastination, the dream killer. I will tell you about why we do it and how to stop it.
According to Wikipedia:
Procrastination is the action of unnecessarily and voluntarily delaying or postponing something despite knowing that there will be negative consequences for doing so.
According to me, procrastination is the act of not doing something because it’s unpleasant in the beginning (but more than worth the trouble).
Why Do We Procrastinate?
I just procrastinate before I started writing this post.
I had no idea what to write about and one movie at TV caught my eye, and I ended up watching for an hour.
This post should’ve been already out, ready for reading as you read this.
Wow, that sounds weird.
When it comes to doing hard stuff in order to achieve something, most of us want only the results without all the trouble.
It’s always easier to watch some Tik Tok videos or watch some instagram reels than to work on your homework or so learn, let’s say to play guitar.
So, If you find yourself doing this don’t be angry or sad.
Everybody does it.
Now that you know you do it, you know you have to stop it.
How To Stop Procrastinating?
In the other posts I did, which you can check out here:
I talked about little habits and things to do or stop doing in order to be more productive.
When we procrastinate we end up doing one of the things I mentioned there, so erasing them is one way to help you stop procrastinating.
I took this advice for more than an year and even though I am not where I want to be I at least get closer.
One of the most important skills to master in order to stop procrastinating is deep work.
Heck, this can help you achieve anything.
On short, deep work is doing a very quality work for what it is you want to learn or achieve.
This concept needs an article of its own to fully explain.
But remember this, you need deep work If you want to accomplish your dreams.
Stop and take a look at the blog posts I mentioned above also, they are very helpful.
The Biggest Benefit Of Stoping Procrastinating
As you read in the title, procrastination is killing your dreams.
Time is the most valuable asset, and the way we use it it’s very important!
Even though stoping this doesn’t mean you’ll achieve what you want right away, it sets you up for greatness.
Take a look at any successful person out there, do you think that when it comes to do the hard work absolutely needed, they just start doing something else?
The answer is no.
I hope this blog post helped you improve!
