Did you say… Vampire Facial?

“Beauty is pain” just got bloody.

With Halloween right around the corner, a vampire facial seems all too relevant. The official name for this procedure is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy but Kim Kardashian named it a vampire facial and the rest was history. This facial involves drawing blood from the client’s own arm. The doctor then separates the plasma and the platelets from the red blood cells and applies the platelet-rich plasma to the clients face. To ensure that the blood absorbs into the skin, microneedles are poked all over the face before spreading the blood. Okay, great. Why?

The platelets help repair damaged blood vessels and cells. These platelets release proteins that promote growth when they come in contact with the body’s tissue.

Vampire facials have been a hit on social media in the past couple of months. The idea of it might leave you feeling uneasy but the results will (allegedly) leave your skin feeling younger and firmer. The cost can range anywhere from $100 to $2500 depending on the surgeon, location, and complexity of the procedure.

Bachelor star Keira Maguire is a fan of this facial although she recognizes the extremedies of it by saying, “The things we do.”

Model Bar Rafaeli has also treated herself to a vampire facial.

The majority of the feedback is positive and most people are going back for more. Here is what the preparation looks like before the blood is applied.

Here’s an idea, get one of these on Halloween to improve your skin and to get in the holiday spirit.
