Match Day Programme Marketing Blog: Weston-super-Mare v Eastbourne Borough
Welcome to the Woodspring Stadium and Weston-super-Mare AFC’s ‘Community Pay What You Want Day’. Regardless if you’re a regular Seagull supporter or this is your first time watching Weston play, I sincerely hope you enjoy the match day experience and the game itself.

These types of events are paramount for non-league clubs as we push to find the next generation of supporters. If this is your first time at the Woodspring, I do hope you will return soon.

I was recently appointed as the club’s Marketing Manager in June making it my second spell working for the Seagulls — I served as Media Manager during the 2016–17 season. Previously I’ve worked and consulted on several internet blogs including bcfcfollowers.com, who are the biggest Birmingham City blog on the internet and thefootballforecast.com, who are nurturing some of the UK’s brightest football journalists. I’ve also worked on many marketing campaigns for local businesses and organisations. I’m relishing the chance to work back at my local football club for the 2018–19 season.

The club and myself have managed to build what I believe is the best media & marketing media team in non-league football. We’ve managed to retain previous members of the team whilst adding to it through our strategic partnership with the leading sports journalism university in the country, UCFB Wembley — Not many clubs in non-league can boast a ‘Marketing Data Analyst’ in their ranks!

We have a clear strategy for marketing the club this season, which all starts with making the club itself ‘marketable’. The team and I have spent countless hours at the ground picking up litter, improving the PA system, adding new signage and more with the intention of improving the match day experience. We’re sure this will help to improve fan retention and ultimately, create ‘Raving Fans’ of Weston-super-Mare AFC. Once we feel we’ve got the match day experience 90% right, then we’ll market the club like it’s never been marketed before.

I urge all fans to ‘buy into’ what we’re trying to do at the club. We’re going to be relentless on making the Woodspring Stadium site clean whilst creating the best match day atmosphere we possibly can. I personally try and chat to all staff on a match day — We must always find time to pause and say ‘thank you’ to the people that work tirelessly to make the club what it is.
Simply, my team and I are committed to making Weston-super-Mare excited about local football, and we won’t stop until it happens.
Thank you for your continued support and C’MON THE SEAGULLS!
Alex
