An Ad Agency Era
The “Mad Men” of the 1960s have nothing on us
I am, by no means, a religious viewer of AMC’s hit series, Mad Men. However, I think it’s safe to assume that a supplemental theme is the growth of the advertising industry throughout the 1960s in the United States. Though extremely encapsulating, and rather entertaining, we need to appreciate the real golden age of advertising; 2014 and beyond.
Whether you like it or not, or are even aware, you are an advertising agency. What do I mean by that? Take a look at your Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Vine, Pinterest, Tumblr, Google +, and whatever other social media platform you choose to post content on. Are you beginning to notice a trend? If you aren’t getting the gist, then your head must now migrate northward, directly out of your ass. We now live in a day and age where every one of us is continuously advertising, branding, and marketing our own lives to the outside world. What was the first thing my girlfriend’s mom did when my name was mentioned? You bet your ass it was a google search, and don’t go double-or-nothing against me on whether or not I anticipated that shit. That’s not being nosey. That’s being current.
If you’re going to establish yourself in today’s social media driven world, be cognizant of the identity you’re putting out there.
Welcome to the first impression of the 21st century.
