“Holly Wood, PhD”

How does one get a PhD without knowing the basics of scientific research?

Practical rule of thumb for discussing economics: if you haven’t read at least Marx, Keynes, Mises and Chesterton, that is, the major works of the major theoreticians of the four major schools of economics, whatever you say will be on par to a biblical creationist discussing STDs:

“AIDS is very simple. AIDS is an illness immoral people get when they insist on having sex outside the sacred bounds of marriage. Sex should only happen between a man and a woman after they’re united in sacred matrimony. Instead, many decide to disobey God’s will, and so…”

So, practical rule of thumb #2: whenever you feel like beginning a sentence, any sentence, with “it’s very simple”, you’re wrong. Always.
