I’m sorry you feel that way. I tend to think diversity of thought is a valuable asset that our country has always (at least until recently) embraced. It is disheartening to realize that the left in this country has decided to stop talking to the right. Our strength comes from vigorous debate — when we stop debating and start calling each other names we weaken our republic.
There are so many things that bother me about your candidate, but believe me when I tell you that I don’t blame you personally for those things. I don’t hate you for the deaths in Libya. I don’t hate you because of the Clinton Foundation scandal. I don’t hate you for the administration's failure to follow through on their “line-in-the-sand” threat — and the hundreds of thousands of people who have died since then. I don’t hate you for the lies the administration had to tell to pass Obamacare. I don’t hate you for the women Bill Clinton assaulted — and Hillary intimidated. I don’t hate you because of the emails Hillary deleted. I don’t hate you because of the lies Hillary keeps telling about all of it. At the end of the day, I don’t hate you at all — I just pray that if we keep talking we’ll find a way forward that we can both agree on.
Regardless of who wins this election the republic will survive. We will survive. Hopefully you will stop calling us names and start talking to us. Engage us on the issues. Disagree. Fight. Agree. Compromise. Whatever. Trust me, it never pays to dehumanize people you disagree with — it never works out well for anyone.
