America’s Big Day

Tomorrow is a Big Day.

It’s a Big Day for many reasons, but I will share just four of them:

  1. We get a chance to see the power of the world’s most successful democracy in action. What a privilege to take part in and to witness the peaceful selection of a new leader of this great country. It’s clear that we have a lot of issues to work through, but it’s breathtaking to see the reality of it in action.
  2. America will reject the idea that we are focused on fear, hatred, and exclusion. In front of the world, we will demonstrate that we are a nation built upon ideals of inclusion, diversity, and that we are stronger as a result. All those in fear that we are stepping away from this will have their fears put to rest. Our commitment to those ideals is stronger than ever.
  3. We get a chance to put our weight behind Hillary. She’s an exceptionally talented, hard working, devoted human being who has dedicated her life to trying to help America. Whether you agree with all of her policies or not, we will highlight our appreciation for her leadership and wonderful attributes, and pile in behind her.
  4. For the first time, we will elect a woman to be our leader for the next 4 years. Gentlemen, we have a tremendous amount to be proud of across history. But let’s face it, we don’t have a monopoly on good judgement. The arc of the future of the human race depends on us leveraging our best and brightest across all races, backgrounds, and genders. As a father of 2 strong girls, I’m thrilled that we will finally take this step and show them that we want everything that they have to offer.

I know this campaign has been shamefully divisive. It is clear to me that there is a large group of fellow Americans who are disenfranchised and struggling to cope with their trajectories right now. There is a lot of work to do to help us all find a path forward, together. We will do that work.

In the meantime, God bless America.
