The Small Things
And how they can make a big difference
Due to half the company being laid off, a woman at work brought in treats to make us all feel better. It was the usual; cakes, chocolate, biscuits and cookies.
It’s not the treats that made me feel better (although chocolate always helps). Its the idea that she has sat there and observed everyone’s downturn in mood. She has then internally processed this and come to the conclusion that everyone needs cheering up and then gone out of her way to do the only thing she thinks will work on a collective level and is within her power to do.
It’s the small things that can help. The situation we are all in is temporary, but the kind heart of that woman is permanent — and that gives me hope.
