So What Is Global Serve International?

I sat down with Micah, a Global Serve International representative to ask a few questions about this organization, and what makes it so unique.
- Where is this organization located and what does it stand for? What is this organization really about?
“ We focus on Southeast Asian countries for example China, Indonesia, Thailand, India.. We go to places where the Bible is scare. Our organization focuses on reaching not reached ethnic groups and places without the Bible, and believe me there are so many places that haven't been touched.”
2. How and when did this organization start?
“ It started in the early 90s as a visionary for planting churches, in areas that haven’t heard the gospel. We also provide medical aid, disaster relief, and develop a community in sharing the words of Jesus by helping them.”
3.Who started the Global Serve International Organization?
“ I can’t really discuss who started it because the countries we go into are very private we like to remain private. I can tell you it was missionaries with a vision to plant churches, and share the Bible in areas where they are scarce.”
4. Overall, how many workers or missionaries do you have working with you in this organization?
“ We have over a 100 people working with us; however, we haven't been expanding as much as we would like, because we don’t except everyone who wants to join. It is due to the areas being really difficult to work in.”
5. Which countries have you impacted most?
“ Defiantly Russia. Because of the circumstances in Russia, especially with the way they run their government. It was cool to see people change. Some of them were alcoholics, suffering from Depression, or even suicidal . We got to lead some of them to Christ. It was a really neat experience to see Jesus impact their lives the way it did.
6. Do you have any upcoming trips planned or events in the near future?
“ We have a vision to expand more into West Asia, into countries like Iraq, Armenia and Israel. It’s always where the Lord leads us. A lot of these countries are under heavy government ruling and are living in a scary environment. We have also recently formed a partnership with a cocoa farmer named Amir in a small village that was within a Muslim community. The GSI team is working to help them with their cocoa farms as well as building trust with their community in sharing the gospel with them.”
7. Have there been any unique or special visits where God has really impacted your life and the lives of others?
“ Yes this one time in Siberia, part of Russia, I touched on this before but that was really a time in which God really gave us hope, and the lives of others hope. There was a lot of despair and people struggling there and we just witnessed the true power of God. We need hope in our lives, and that was really prevalent there.
8. What advice would you give to students, here at Liberty University or young adults at other universities to join your organization in impacting other countries around the world?
“ When I was a college student, I majored in Music and I was called to serve in other countries. In college we are told to think with an internal mind sight, but really we should give back. What the Lord is giving to me I give back out. I would recommend to students that if you are called into a missions work, especially in working with different countries receive cross cultural training. You also need to have a humble heart. The Lord can use you in great ways and make sure he is leading you. “
9. What is the biggest difference between cross cultural missions and here in the United States missions?
“ The countries that we have been reaching haven’t heard of the Bible. Their government ruling is a lot different than here in the United States. Here you have democracy and more freedom. Other countries, especially communist countries have stricter regulations. Some countries are scary to share your faith in because of the oppression and less freedom.”
10. How has your experience here at Liberty University been so far for Global Impact Week?
“ This is my second year coming to Liberty University and I am just blown away by this school. I went to a event in the school of engineering and it was really neat to see how they can impact people through their careers. I really love that Liberty is training champions for Christ.
