True friends make the effort
They are the ones who count.
It might sound odd, but after a not too long but still short 27 years, I’ve come to realize that real friends make the effort.
Real friends keep in touch. They think about you sometimes. They make sure to follow and like your updates online. They’ll ask you out for an emergency catch-up if you forget to ask them out. And they will always respond when you have a crisis, no matter the time or day.
True friends will stick with you, even after university, even after working in the same place. They are more than colleagues, more than classmates, because the relationship doesn’t end just because you don’t see each other regularly anymore.
And that’s how you tell that they will always have your back.
The value of real friendship is also immense — to the point where you need to count your lucky stars to have even found these people because that makes you incredibly fortunate.
I’ve been reading quotes on friendship, but there’s only so many quotes you can read. Ultimately, it’s the actions that count, not the words.
“I think if I’ve learned anything about friendship, it’s to hang in, stay connected, fight for them, and let them fight for you. Don’t walk away, don’t be distracted, don’t be too busy or tired, don’t take them for granted. Friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together. Powerful stuff.” ― Jon Katz
Fight for them, and let them fight for you, because they hold life and faith together. That’s right.
