When watching this it reminded me of the Lupin III anime. I wouldn’t be surprised if it took inspiration from that because I can see plenty of simularities. First the jazz themed music, which the animation plays off well with. Starting off very subtle and then gradually becoming more intense as the story goes along. The second similarity is the main character’s personality. Just like the main character Lupin in Lupin III, Diamond Jack may appear to be doing wrong but actually cares about those around him who would be in danger. I always admire character development that changes the audience’s perception on what the character’s motives are to where it becomes an unexpected twist in the story. The design of the characters having a sketched out quality to them I feel goes well with the fast pace action that takes place in the middle and conclusion of the animation. Many might think the overall design could be cleaned up with smoother line design making it more easy to follow the action. But I feel it doesn’t lose any quality and probably intended to be created that way.
