The Myth of Efficiency
James Kwak

When I worked on Wall Street, I used to check my Blackberry first thing when I woke up. I checked it right before I went to sleep. And if I woke up in the middle of the night, I’d check it then, too. I’d check it as I was waiting in line, as you note in the article, James.
And this is something all of my colleagues did as well.
What did it result in?
We all wrote a bunch of emails that didn’t need to get written. Opinions were voiced that didn’t need to be shared. And we all created a ton of work for each other that didn’t need to get done.
But it sure was addicting.
