The male hygiene brand, Old Spice, has recently partnered up with Jeff Wittek on Youtube and Instagram to promote their products.

Jeff Wittek is a social media influencer largely known for being a part of David Dobrik’s Vlog Squad. Beyond the Vlog Squad, Wittek has a Youtube channel and a podcast. On his Youtube channel, he mainly posts comedy skits of him giving a haircut to an influencer in his Jeff’s Barbershop series. On his podcast, Skotcast, Jeff and fellow Vlog Squad member, Scotty Sire, post weekly podcasts of the two friends exchanging banter about all things, from what’s happening on social media to fitness, and sometimes even motivational advice. Before to social media, Wittek was a barber and was even on an episode of MTV’s Jersey Shore giving male cast members a haircut in a Miami barbershop.

Wittek has an Instagram following of 2.1 million and 1.2 million subscribers on Youtube, giving him a big reach. Being a male influencer with a large multi-platform following, and having a background as a barber it makes sense why Old Spice chose Wittek to promote their product. He aligns well with their brand. Especially, since Old Spice advertisements consistently emphasize manliness and how the products are made for men.

Wittek’s barbershop series on his Youtube channel has recently become sponsored by Old Spice. Who better to promote a hair care product than a barber himself? On June 27th was when the first sponsored video came out, and since then all Jeff’s Barbershop episodes have been sponsored by the brand. In these videos, Jeff uses Old Spice products on those he gives hair cuts to while maintaining his humorous online persona. This first sponsored video has amassed over a million views, and those that follow it are either over or less than 500,000 views away from a million views.

On Instagram, Wittek promotes Old Spice body products. He made the posts solely to promote the product, whereas on Youtube the products mesh well into the content he was already making.

KPI’s Old Spice can look at when measuring the success of their sponsored posts with Wittek are mentions and engagement. There is no way to see how Wittek’s social media posts are effecting sales for Old Spice since most people buy the product at brick-and-mortar retailers. However, it is possible that Wittek’s posts have increased brand awareness for Old Spice by looking at their mentions on social media.

Overall, Old Spice’s partnership with Jeff Wittek is a mutually beneficial relationship that helps promote their products.
