What I Learned in 2017.
What’s Up World!
My name is Alex, and Welcome to another blog post. As life unfolds, I want to take a moment to share with you a few things that I learned in 2017.
One of the main things that I thought I “knew” but really became clear to me in 2017 is that nothing happens if I don’t take action. We stay in the same place, the same mediocrity year after year because we never take ACTION despite having the best intentions.
If I never take that first step and continue to take steps in the direction that I want to go in life, then I can’t be surprised when things never change.
Don’t Need to be perfect. Just Authentic
This one really set me free this year and I hope it does that same for you. I use to be one of the many people that was proud to tell the world how much of a “Perfectionist” I was. However, I NEVER got anything done, I constantly kept planning, strategizing and never taking action. I was so worried about everything being perfect that I didn’t give my self the freedom to act.
In 2017 I learned, it does not need to be perfect, it just needs to be Authentic
Clarity Will Come. Get Yo Ass Moving!
Out of all of the lessons I learned, this might be my favorite one by far. It goes hand in hand with taking actions but it touches on a different part of it. Whenever I am about to do something, I would try to think of every possible angle and think of every thing that could go wrong or that I would encounter.
This would stop me from moving and paralyzed me because I was afraid of the unknown. I am sure that many of us have got stopped in our tracks from fear of the unknown. Please don’t let that stop you. You might not have the answers right now, and understand that it is okay. Don’t beat yourself up because you don’t have all the answers. Surrender yourself, and clarity will come once you get yo ass moving.
Don’t give a damn about what other people think
What other people think of you is none of your business. If there is nothing else that spoke to you in this blog please let this be one that does. We get so crippled by what other people think and it is straight up bullshit. Stop doing this. I know it’s hard because being “accepted” is a societal norm. Fuck that!
This life we have is a gift. ONE LIFE. That’s all we get. Promise me you won’t worry about what they think. You are enough, take that risk, go for that dream. I know it’s not easy.
Essentially, I am grateful for 2017. I am humbled and honored that I was a part of the many things I was a part on in 2017.
All of that is behind me now. 2017 is behind you now.
2018 All In.
