The Society’s upgradeability.
Scalability and improvements in technology are important, but also we need to upgrade Society’s to take the world one step further.
Decentralized technologies leave anyone control 100% of their money, this means individuals are in control of their safety and are responsible for losing everything.
The banks take away our freedom and charge fees in exchange for giving us security, like refunding transactions when our card gets stolen.
Interacting with the blockchain is not the same as with the bank.
- The blockchain does not charge a transaction fee.
- The blockchain does not decide how much money you can send, where you can send it.
- The blockchain does not keep track of your personal information, account passwords, balances, transactions and your money.
It means that we cannot complain to anyone. It means you are the unique responsiblility of everything.
There are some interfaces such as Metamask, MyEtherWallet to interact directly with the blockchain, but you and only you are responsible for your security.
We are not trained to be responsible for our security or to teach ourselves, we prefer some centralized service take care of everything for us.
In a dictatorship, while supporters of it don’t need to think too much, because everything is thought of for them, the driven individual needs to renounce to that easy path in order to regain thought freedom.
I wish someday I can delete my bank account and have all my money in virtual wallets to take full control of my own stuff.
Internet leaves anyone to learn most knowledge that humankind has created if you know how to search and discern. Education platforms like Udemy leave people to learn anything at any time for low prices.
We live in a society where other’s control our funds/security, other’s take control of our education, other’s control our ideologies…
We have been taught not to be free since we were born.
In a near future people won’t have to worry about the most repetitive tasks, we will use the time that’s left to think, to create, to wonder, to philosophize. To engage in more cognitively demanding and fascinating tasks. Those who can learn by themselves are/will be in a superior evolutionary position.
We are traveling in a direction where individuals will have a lot of power if they take advantage of technology to be more freedom.

We should remember technology is not a purpose, is a tool.
Society decides the use will give to technology.
That’s why social scalability is at least as important as technical scalability.
One of the reasons I created with my colleagues, FileNation is to bring IPFS(InterPlanetary File System) to non-technical people and to empower people around the world to send files easily and freely using this amazing P2P technology.
Decentralization and IPFS can avoid censorship, seizure, access control and make things easier and faster to change and to adapt to social needs; it also gives people more freedom to empower themselves.
