Triantaphyllis Among Top Fundraising House Challengers Nationally
July 19, 2017
HOUSTON, TX — Reporting over $450,000 raised in the second fundraising quarter, Democratic challenger Alex Triantaphyllis became one of the top ten fundraising House challengers in the country. Among Democratic House challengers, he is in the top five fundraisers nationally. This total raised reflects just eight weeks of fundraising, since his campaign launch in early May. Triantaphyllis handily outraised nine-term incumbent Congressman John Culberson, despite Culberson taking over $118,000 from special interest political action committees (PACs), compared to Triantaphyllis’s $0.
“We are proud to be building a people-powered campaign,” said Triantaphyllis. “This strong, early financial support and enthusiasm shows what we’re hearing from Houstonians every day: the people of Texas’s 7th congressional district are ready for a change, and for a representative who listens to and is ready to act in the best interests of this community. ”
Triantaphyllis reported over $400,000 cash on hand entering the third quarter of 2017. The majority of contributions to Triantaphyllis’s campaign were $100 or less.
