Automate Political Debates

ChatGPT might not be able to singlehandedly resolve all of our problems just yet, but it can help us make sense of the world.

We all know that ChatGPT can be a little biased when it comes to hot-button topics. Generally, it tries to balance things out if possible. However, to obtain relatively unfiltered political opinions, for example, you can simply split the AI in half and have it play two characters, debating each other.

This is my go-to prompt to understand both sides of any argument:

topic = welfare

Construct a dialogue between a gun-collecting veteran from Texas and a weed-smoking hippie from San Francisco. Both are a little biased in their ways, but well-read and intelligent individuals.

They are debating {topic} and laying out their best arguments on a TV debate. In the end, they find a compromise that nobody is happy with, but both can live with.

Extend the Conversation

Of course, you can change the tone of the exchange to a more serious format, and you don’t need to resolve it in one go, as shown in this example. Simply delete the last sentence to extend this conversation and explore different mindsets.
