Trump’s economic doomsday prophecy

In his speech to the Economic Club of New York, Trump exposed his grandiose plan to make “America great again” out of a hell hole and crime scene by — you guessed it: tax cuts for the rich, less regulation and a new round of spending with a tag of $4.4 trillion! This is the same worn out crowd pleaser message written by the Heritage Foundation. In his lecture-like-speech words and data poured out of his mouth as he had studied the facts he cited. However, we all know that Trump doesn’t read books and that he also is intellectually lazy. This was another reality TV show performance where he states policy positions that he later switches around in multiple fluctuations because he doesn’t understand the facts and can’t remember nonfactual statements. His vivid imaginary knowledge about world affairs in general and about free trade and economics in particular, is exposed without a teleprompter as he expects to learn just by hanging around with learned people. Trump supporters might well be served if a senior advisor told him he has to read extensively to avoid coming across as a clownish entertainer in a well-informed forum. For instance, he could start by reading about free trade from pre-Victorian, David Ricardo, all the way to our own contemporaneous Nobel Prize, Paul Krugman. In fact, there is another book that is a must read for Mr. Trump; the Dunning-Kruger effect which is about the cognitive illusion of superiority. The effect can be simply explained by the orangutan that looks in the mirror and sees Einstein!
