“It is not shocking that people mistake curiosity with support, but it is pathetic and it is tragic.”
I’m pushing 70 and have always loved your Dad… …huge fan. Still, I suspect mere “curiosity” could be satisfied without implying the “support” connotated by an attendance at an event celebrating a woman _forced_ to carry her rapist’s baby to term, unending wars for profit, dirty air and water, the destruction of every piece of social legislation implemented since the 30s (only beginning with Social Security and Medicare), starvation wages, the mixture of Church and State, the end of all corporate oversight, an imploded middle class, institutionalized racism, legitimized religious bigotry, unconstitutional faith-based litmus tests… this list goes on and on. I wonder, was your Dad’s curiosity satisfied, and in the fashion of the “cat,” will it kill him like the children poisoned by Republicans in Flint?
I’m reminded of one of his lines in Close Encounters “You may have noticed that there is something a bit ‘off’ with Dad…”
