Turning Problems Into Outcomes

Everyone has outcomes: to go to college, to get married, to get a job, to travel the world, to start a family. Everyone has outcomes, but only a few people can ever achieve all of their outcomes. And the reason is because these people who can achieve all their outcomes, these achievers, have an Outcome Frame of Mind. Meaning that they not only have the ability to define what they want precisely, positively and within their control. They also have the ability to see the problems that are in the way of their outcomes as outcomes themselves.
Now what do I mean by this?
Well first of all let me tell you the story of a young woman called Alice. One day Alice was strolling along the village woods and she came upon a cat lying on a small brick wall. Alice asked the cat, ‘Mr. Cat, would you tell me please, which way I ought to go from here?’, ‘Well, that all depends a good deal on where you want to go’ said the cat. And Alice replied ‘I don’t really care much about where I end up’, ‘then it doesn’t matter which way you go’. If life’s a journey, and if you don’t decide to set a destination for yourself of who you want to be, the people you want to be surrounded by and what kind of car you want to drive in. Then expect for yourself, 10 years down the line, to be living an undesired life where you will choke on the dust of your own decay and regret. It’s very important to have outcomes in life. Outcomes create destiny.
So now, how can you harness your ability to see problems as outcomes and more importantly, why should you see problems as outcomes? Well you have to understand that there’s a difference between where you are now and where you want to be, between your present outcomes and desired outcomes. That difference is called a ‘problem’. Most people look at the problem and if it’s too large or personal, they say “it’s impossible” or “I just can’t do it”. That what I like to call the Pussy Frame of Mind, when you only look at the problem and back away as a coward.
The achiever does not only look at the problem, but they also examine the problem and break it down into smaller problems. AND THEN, they turn those problems upside down into many small outcomes. So instead of complaining about why you can’t make the basketball team because you can’t slam dunk, actually, see that in order for you to make the basketball team, you must learn to slam dunk. And to learn how to slam dunk, you must start working on your jump shots and dunks.
If you can develop an Outcome Frame of Mind, no outcome is impossible for you.
