Everyday humans get to interact with, if not hundreds, then at least more than a dozen of people. Whether if you’re at work, purchasing groceries or selling stuff, you have to connect with people. What you say or do can affect the mood of others around you. You can either build new relationships or destroy the ones you already have.

After reading Dale Carnegie’s most renowned book “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, I had new ambitions. I set myself the challenge to make new friends and to influence the ones I already have. We as humans usually would like to be the center of attention. Craving for positive interactions with people. Someone telling them how fresh they look or how good their particular presentation went and then observe the joy that it brings to their life, no matter if it’s even for a brief moment. Dale Carnegie writes in his book “ I have discovered from personal experience that one can win the attention and time and cooperation of even the most sought-after people by becoming genuinely interested in them.”

Taking time out for others and praising them unexpectedly adds value for you in their hearts. People tend to be more interested in you when you are interested in them. This is a mutual thing which goes both ways. With time you can make real connections and real friends.

You earn respect by giving respect and you become interesting by being interested!
