What I learnt from a child

Once traveling through the rural land,
Stopped my bus at a village stand.
I peeped through the window clear,
Saw a child with no fear.
Rejoiced playing in the sands
Bare her feet, with clumsy hands.

Stones and pebbles were toys for her.
She enjoyed in their gathering.
Took a stone and threw it down.
With a smile on her lips to crown.
The innocence in her playful way,
Was charming, compellingly gay.

Her eyes clear, innocent, black,
Looked inquiringly, but it lacked,
Jealous, corrupt, malicious tinge.
As it pictured everything.
Sand and stones were her treasured store.
Tried to cup she more and more.

What struck me like a lightning streak?
Emotions to look, the face entreats.
Innocence, which can never I,
Find in any other eye.
The children in their simple ways,
Are mentors to the human race.
